Constructivismo y educación cristiana: Un reto para los colegios cristianos
Resumen
Muchos colegios cristianos ejecutan currículos para la educación cristiana basados principalmente en la acumulación de conocimientos bíblicos. Sin embargo, se descuida el potenciar al niño para enfrentarse de forma pacifista a su medio, el cual cada vez se torna más violento. En este artículo se hace una descripción de las perspectivas constructivista y sociohistórica como marco teórico para un currículo pertinente de educación cristiana. Luego se abordan tres subtemas o puntos focales importantes: el crecimiento moral como eje de la educación cristiana; el desarrollo del currículo desde la perspectiva constructivista y sociohistórica; y las implicaciones de estos enfoques para la misión de la educación cristiana. Finalmente, en el resumen y las conclusiones, se hace una recapitulación de las ideas presentadas y de los retos más significativos que enfrentan los colegios hoy día para lograr una educación cristiana transformadora de la propia vida de los estudiantes y de su entorno.

Abstract
Constructivism and Christian education: A challenge for Christian schools
Many Christian schools implement curricula for Christian Education based mainly in the accumulation of biblical knowledge. However, they overlook to empower the children to face in a peaceful manner their environment, which each time becomes more violent. This article describes the constructivist and sociohistoric approaches as the theoretic frame for a pertinent Christian Education curriculum. Next, it analyses three sub-themes or focal points: the moral development as an axis of the Christian education; the development of the curriculum from the constructivist and sociohistorical perspective; and the implications of these approaches for the mission of the Christian education. Finally, the summary and conclusions include a recapitulation of the ideas presented and of the most significant challenges that Christian schools face today to achieve a Christian education that transforms the students’ lives and their environment.
